Cryopreservation

Cryopreservation

The freezing of the embryos, sperm, or eggs is known as cryopreservation.  Cryopreservation may be indicated for women who have poor endometrium or other health problems like uncontrolled diabetes, thyroid, or any other hormone imbalances. Cryopreservation helps preserve the gametes before chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Embryo preservation in IVF

Embryo freezing is done to use the embryos in the future. The normal IVF process is done which includes Ovum pick-up and Embryo formation and the Embryo can be cryopreserved under specific temperature conditions.

Embryos are frozen on day 3 or day 5. Embryo freezing is considered to be relatively safe and leads to successful pregnancy and delivery.
