Delivering Dreams

Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction where intended parents get help with a gestational surrogate to carry and care for their baby until birth.

Infertility has become a major problem for a lot of couples. A variety of issues can cause infertility, such as the absence of a uterus, impaired uterus, a chronic health issue, or cancer. There are a lot of treatments that could help treat infertility; however, surrogacy is considered to be helpful when all the other treatments fail.

Surrogacy helps a lot of couples who are unable to have children to become parents. It is a process that requires medical and legal expertise, as well as strong support from family, friends, and the surrogate throughout the journey.

Through IVF, embryos are generated in a lab at the hospital. The doctor implants 1 - 2 embryos into a gestational surrogate. The genetic carriers or surrogates do not develop any genetic relationship with the children they deliver.

Types of surrogacy

Generally, there are four types of surrogacy, such as traditional, gestational, commercial, and altruistic surrogacy.

Gestational surrogacy - the egg of the mother will be harvested and then fertilized with the father’s sperm. This embryo is then be placed in the uterus of the surrogate woman. In this procedure, there will be no connection between the surrogate mother and the child.

Commercial surrogacy - the surrogate woman will be provided with monetary benefits/compensation by the intended parents of the baby for carrying their child in her uterus. This is considered to be legal in India only for Indian nationals.
